Since there’s nothing better I could write here for you than Scripture, this is half of a list of some of my favorite verses (come back next week for the other half of the list). How precious and wonderful it is that Scripture doesn’t return empty but does accomplish the purpose for which our Good God sent it out (see Isaiah 55:11).

With that in mind, please comment below this post with a favorite Bible verse (or three) of yours so we all can be encouraged together in the reading of God’s Word to us.

  1. Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not onto your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him and he will make straight your paths.
  • Jeremiah 1:5 and 8 Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations…Do not be afraid of them for I am with you and will rescue you, declares the LORD.
  • 2 Corinthians 5:21 God made him who had no sin to become sin for us so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.
  • 1 John 4:18 There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.

If you want to make sure you don’t miss the other half of this list next week, please sign up to follow this blog with your email on the link below.

For those of you who enjoyed the audio version of these posts, thanks for your patience with this old eccentric soil scientist. I’m trying to figure out some new technology to keep making the audio versions since the program I used before is no longer available.

Speaking of favorites, check out Northeastern Baptist Press at the link below – you might find some new favorite books full of Scripture and see an author you already know who loves Scripture dearly (grin!).

    Jeremiah 29:11
    New International Version
11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

This was the first verse quoted to me when I was called into ministry. It has sustained me during the challenging time for 20 years. Praying that it blesses others.

        Beth,
I was asked to.lead a devotional with our Women on Mission ladies at the Get-together this weekend in Nashville. Used part of Good Ground, Volume 2 to share about the lives of two missionaries: Gladys Aylyard and Lottie Moon.
