The older I get, the more I value time. Time to learn, time to think, time to write.

With that in mind, I thought I’d share a little poem I wrote this morning while asking myself, “what do I really need to do today?” I hope these words encourage you in whatever you might choose to do today.

“Today’s tasks and tomorrow’s too”

Sit and listen to the Scripture and the stories

Ponder what you’ll see of goodness and glory

Watch for dreams to unfold in head and heart

Know God will provide for every need in every part

Be careful to rejoice every morning, every day

Believe Jesus is the life, the truth, the way

Cherish those seemingly simple lessons all

Trust those truths learned in victory and in fall

Rest in the peace of now

See restoring of that taken by evil on the prowl

Be abiding in God and Vine

Know none of this is really ever yours or mine

Grow deep in the inmost secret parts

Asking “please, Jesus, an undivided heart”

A heart that searches for the uttermost

In and with the power of the Holy Ghost

For this same power that raised the dead

And crowned our Christ as He bled

Gives life, not the grave, for us to receive

With faith that strengthens, stays, and believes

Proclaim the Gospel truth with every word

Hold high hope and the Bible-sword

This is what we’re called to do

With God’s mercies and love ever true

For today, God says, “be still and know”

Then, maybe tomorrow, “get up and go”

So, go with the good news for every and each

Go in prayer, in study, and then, to preach

Remember your life is God’s sermon

As you let Him take your burdens

Take hold the grace available to you

Trust God to make all things new
