Six dear friends of mine are walking through some very hard places in life right now. These friends differ in age, life circumstances, families, locations, and type of suffering. Yet, these friends are all the same in weighing heavy on my heart for prayer. And this heaviness prompts me to pray for these friends over and over and over again throughout the day.
Each of these friends carries a heavy burden she cannot fix by herself.
Each of these friends didn’t ask for the burden she struggles with every day.
Each of these friends know pain deeper than words and grief that takes her breath.
Here’s some of what I’m praying for my friends today:
Please, Father God, please remind these ladies that You are their Burden-Bearer, the Lifter of their heads. Thank You that absolutely nothing is too hard or impossible for You.
Please Lord, hide them underneath the shadow of Your wings. Thank You that they can receive joy for mourning and hope for despair from You. Please give them faith to fight back their fears and courage to take every thought captive as unto You. Thank You that You know their fears (and mine) and You love us still.
My friends are weary far beyond their strength. Thank You that no one can be weary past Your strength. Please give them Your strength to mount up with wings like eagles and soar. Please help them to watch and to wait with expectation for You to work in their lives and their families’ lives in ways only You can do.
They don’t know what to do next. Father, please assure them that You will make their paths straight as they trust You. Thank You that You do lead us without ever letting any of us go, even in the valley of the shadow of death. Please remind them of Your ever-faithful ever-present love for them and every one in their lives.
Please, Father, help them know that You do give joy for mourning and hope for despair. They are bent with the heaviness of all of this. Thank You that You are our Strong Tower to Whom we can go and find strength. Please show them that You can and You will move mountains in front of them.
Please tell them again to come to You and find the distinctive rest of abiding with You. Please help me be diligent to pray for them and to trust You that You are good and Your plan is for good, for a future, and for a hope. Thank You that You are gentle and humble in heart and hold each and every one of us close in to You.
in Jesus’ Name,
Amen.
I have a feeling that many of you are either walking (or walking with dear friends) through a wilderness of some very hard life circumstances today. I hope that you were encouraged by this prayer.
Here’s a list of the Scripture which came to mind while writing that prayer:
Psalm chapters 23 and 91, Jeremiah 32:17, Matthew 11:28-30, 2 Corinthians 10:5,
Proverbs 18:10 and 3:5-6, Isaiah 40:31, Ephesians 3:20-21, Psalm 46:10
