If you don’t know Jesus as your hope for today and for eternity, now is always the right time to stop and pray for Him to come and change your life forever. There is no past too dark for Him. There is no person too far gone for Him. There is no circumstance too overwhelming for Him.
Only Jesus can be and is our hope of glory (see Colossians 1:27).
Only Jesus has already defeated death and the grave (see 1 Thessalonians 4:14).
Only Jesus is greater than whatever is in your life today (see 1 John 4:4).
And right now, God is waiting to give you Himself as your strength and portion (see Psalm 73:26). He wants for you to know His hope and future for you (see Jeremiah 29:11). And His hope will never disappoint or deny, decline or decay but will give joy for strength and peace for persevering (see Romans 5:5 and Nehemiah 8:10).
God’s hope is stronger than any cancer or concern, diagnosis, denial, or disease, failure, flood, or furnace – just ask David or Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, Esther, Paul, and a bunch of other folks who lived in hard places in Scripture…
I think Habakkuk 3:17-19 ESV says it best with these words,
Even though the fig trees have no blossoms,
and there are no grapes on the vines;
even though the olive crop fails,
and the fields lie empty and barren;
even though the flocks die in the fields,
and the cattle barns are empty,
yet I will rejoice in the Lord!
I will be joyful in the God of my salvation!
The Sovereign Lord is my strength!
He makes me as surefooted as a deer,
able to tread upon the heights.
I’m living proof of the truth that our Good God is my strength. Only He makes me able to walk this wilderness of cancer in treading upon the heights and traversing the valleys alike. Nothing is too hard for Him (see Jeremiah 32:17)!
For those of you following my story – there’s only two IV chemotherapy treatments remaining! If all goes as planned, I’ll receive my last chemo right before Thanksgiving. Isn’t that a great Thanksgiving, Christmas, birthday, and all the holidays gift rolled into one?
My family and I are so grateful for God’s provision in early detection of cancer, access to good treatments with great doctors, nurses, and aides, many tangible helps from friends and family, and most of all, prayers from so many people, including many of you. Thanks be to our Good God for YOU! Please keep praying for clean scans, little side effects from daily oral chemo drugs, protection from other illnesses, and the enduring strength to keep trusting and leaning on our Good God day by day, step by step.
I’d be honored if you’d like and share this post with others who are walking in hard circumstances. There’s always room here on the blog for more and more folks needing hope. And much more importantly, there’s always room at the Cross of our Christ Jesus for more to come!
