Psalm 100:1-5 ESV Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth! Serve the Lord with gladness! Come into his presence with singing! Know that the Lord, he is God! It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture. Enter his gates with thanksgiving, and his courts with praise! Give thanks to him; bless his name! For the Lord is good; his steadfast love endures forever, and his faithfulness to all generations.
Luke 19:37-40 ESV As [Jesus] was drawing near—already on the way down the Mount of Olives—the whole multitude of his disciples began to rejoice and praise God with a loud voice for all the mighty works that they had seen, saying, “Blessed is the King who comes in the name of the Lord! Peace in heaven and glory in the highest!” And some of the Pharisees in the crowd said to him, “Teacher, rebuke your disciples.”He answered, “I tell you, if these were silent, the very stones would cry out.”
Many times, when I’m in the woods, every part of creation and I are making our joyful noise[s] to the Lord. From the toads to the trees, the soil to the squirrels, the water to the woodpeckers – all of us are proclaiming that the Lord, He is God! But the rocks and robins are often the loudest lest the rest of us aren’t vigorous enough in giving thanks. Because everyone must know and rely upon the truth that our Lord is good; His steadfast love endures forever. Those acorns, seedpods, rhizomes, and spores need to know that His faithfulness to all generations is for us and for them and for however many more there are left to come in this world. And most importantly, our own children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren need to hear and grow in this same truth of Blessed is the King Who comes in the Name of the Lord!. So, the next time, you hear a stone, songbird, or stream, let it prompt you to add your joyful noise to theirs in inviting others to join you to Enter His gates with thanksgiving, and His courts with praise!. Every day can be Easter because every day is one God has made. This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it! (Psalm 118:24 ESV)
Christ is risen! He is risen indeed!
Happy Easter, everyone!
May the joy of the first Easter fill your heart and home each and every day!
