Psalm 97:11a MSG Light-seeds are planted in the souls of God’s righteous people.

Even though fall is considered harvest time, it can also be a planting time. Not just planting cold or cover crops for the fields outside our windows but for light-seeds inside our souls. And that’s the kind of planting that yields eternal harvest – a harvest worth pursuing in prayer every day of every year!

That’s also the kind of harvest worth celebrating today. Celebrating in the praise of our Good God Who plowed the soil of our souls for the planting of light-seeds for today’s harvest and continues to do so for the future. We may not see a harvest now but we can know this truth – He’s never finished working in and through us for His glory and the good of His people.  Philippians 1:6 ERV captures this idea with I am sure that the good work God began in you will continue until he completes it on the day when Jesus Christ comes again.

With all that in mind, let’s take some time today to thank God for His goodness displayed in the beauty around and in us – the beauty of ripe fruit on trees and thick grain in fields, from lives and in hearts.

He plants; we participate.

He cultivates; we continue.

He protects and provides; we praise.

He works; we worship.

Therein lies the joy and beauty of all of this, He gives and we gladly receive the grace, mercies, and love with grateful hearts ready for the planting of more and more light-seeds.
